Exam process likely to start from June

Statement by Controller Exams, Kashmir University,

We have gone through the guidelines issued by UGC and have discussed it many times. But these guidelines are framed in the light of Academic Calendar adopted by other Universities across India. Unlike other universities in rest of the country, we have different academic calendar in Kashmir. For example, they are having long summer break and we observe long winter break. Also, we do not have summer session in Kashmir but they do have. In this way, the situation in Kashmir) is completely different from other universities of the country.

According to the Controller Exams, KU (Farooq Ahmad Mir), in the interest of students, the University has taken some decisions for Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (P.G) students which are mentioned below.

For PG courses, we have decided to continue the online teaching The examinations

of PG ist Semester (Batch 2019) & 2nd Semester (Batch 2018) have been deferred and as soon as the online teaching for their 2nd semester & 3rd semester gets completed, we will again discuss the situation in a meeting by mid June.

For U.G courses, we do not have any terminal semester at present. We have already conducted the 5th & 6th semester (Batch 2016) exam. The result of 5th semester hasalready been declared and we are going to confirm the result of 6th semester in next2-3 days After the declaration of result, the students would be eligible for PGadmissions in Kashmir or outside. Incase of mid-semesters, we have already requested the college faculty to provisionally promote the students to next semester and continue the online teaching. The students of Batch 2017 are particularly requested to attend the online classes of their 6th semester After the completion of 6th semester online teaching work, we would be able to conduct the exams of 5th & 6th semester (when the atmosphere is conducive). Likewise, we have UG ist semester (Batch 2020) whose exams were scheduled to be held in June-July, but we didn't reach there yet.

Most probably, the university is going to start the examination process from the

month of June. We have A+ rated University & there is no chance of mass promotion and ultimately it is also not in the interest of students.
