AN OPEN LETTER TO KASHMIR UNIVERSITY
KASHMIR UNIVERSITY'S NEGLECT FOR BATCH 2016
Below mentioned are a few points that the Kashmir University must take note of and act seriously as soon as possible:
The Kashmir University Batch - 2016 seems like the most neglected batch of present times as, first of all, it took us more than four years to complete your graduation.
After giving so much of our valuable time to graduation, we are yet again stuck with the PG entrance exam which was supposed to be conducted in April-2020 but got delayed due to the Corona Virus Pandemic.
All other batches of different streams and courses of Kashmir University are going very well with their online classes but the 2016 batch is sitting at home doing nothing
The idea of Kashmir University to conduct exams after August 15 seems completely foolish and a farce and is just like giving a false contentment to the students. Since we are undergoing a series of lockdown and each passing day the Covid-19 situation is worsening, conducting exams any sooner in future seems impossible.
The Kashmir University must act in a way which benefits both the groups of students
- the ones asking for selection on the basis of entrance exam and the ones asking for selection on the basis of merit obtained in graduation.
For the time being, if selection based on the merit obtained in graduation is immediately done, the precious time of at least some - if not all - of the students will be saved by starting online classes for the selected students.
Students who demand for an entrance test can apply in the next exam session. Such students must keep in mind that they will have to wait in any case, whether it is to wait is for the situation to get better for conduct of exams or it is to wait for the next exam session. Since for them, to wait for the exam is less of an issue than to appear in the exam, they must try to be selfless during these difficult times for at least those students who can save their time by applying on graduation merit basis.
In favour of such students who demand for an entrance exam, the Kashmir University can also go for two entrance exams a year one based on graduation merit (to be immediately done) and the other based on entrance exam (to be held when the situation gets better) - like the University has previously done too.
The unfavourable events occurring in the previous years have already taken a huge toll on our career and future. At this point, the Kashmir University must act seriously and not just hand us to the mercy of this unfavourable situation yet again.
